The aim of this experiment was to compare the feedlot performance and carcass characteristics of Lori-Bakhtiari and Romanov×Lori-Bakhtiari crossbreed lambs. Forty-four Lori-Bakhtiari lamb and Forty-four Romanov×Lori-Bakhtiari lambs were used in a completely randomized design and using a factorial method (2×2) during two consecutive years. The average daily gain and daily feed intake were determined by individual weaning of each animal and then feed conversion ratio was calculated. Carcass characteristics of lambs were measured. The results showed that average daily gain during fattening period (212.1vs. 179.6 g), final fattening weight (52.12 vs. 48.26 kg), feed intake, carcass weight and fat tail percentage in Lori Bakhtiari lambs were greater than Romanov× Lori Bakhtiari crossbred lambs. The average daily gain before weaning (298.4 vs. 266.8 g), the average daily gain during fattening period (217.2 vs. 161.9 g), and feed conversion ratio (7.62 vs. 9.75) in male lambs was better than female lambs (p < 0.05). Fat tail percentage and total carcass fat content in male lambs were higher than that of female lambs (p < 0.05). It is concluded that, Romanov×Lori Bakhtiari crossbred lambs had higher performance than Lori Bakhtiari lambs before weaning. However, fattening period performance and carcass weight in Bakhtiari lambs were higher compared to Romanov×Lori Bakhtiari crossbred lambs. In addition, energy spent per kg of carcass and live weights in Bakhtiari lambs was lower than Romanov×Lori Bakhtiari crossbreds. Therefore, it can be concluded that the indigenous Bakhtiari sheep breed is more useful for fattening than that of Romanov×Lori Bakhtiari crossbreds in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Tribulus Tresstrise (TT) herb on sex ratio of semen in Arabic Khouzestan ram using real time-qPCR technique using 18 rams in a completely randomized design with 3 treatments. The SRY and PLP genes were amplified to isolate the specific fragments of Y- and X- chromosome sequences. The treatments included: i) the control group (0% TT), ii) Diet containing 15 g/kg TT, iii) Diet containing 30 g/kg TT. Sperm sampling was taken from all rams at 10 month of age and blood sampling was performed at 8 and 10 month of age. The results showed that expression rate of SRY gene increased with increasing TT level and rams that received 30 g/kg TT diet had the highest SRY gene expression and PLP gene expression decreased with increasing TT level (p-value =0.004). There was positive correlation between Testosterone concentration and SRY gene expression at 8 (0.65) and 10 (0.59) month of age, and the relationship between PLP gene expression and Testosterone concentration was negative and -0.61 and -0.66 at 8 and 10 month of age, respectively (p-value= 0.006). The results indicated that adding Tribulus Tresstrise herb to the ram diet increases the SRY gene expression and also sperm containing Y chromosome. In other words, it increases the sex ratio toward male gens in Arabic Khozestan ram by increasing the androgen hormones.

20 one-month-old Sanjabi suckling lambs (ten males and ten females with initial liveweight of 13.4 ± 1.3 and 11.6 ± 0.9, respectively) were used to assess the effect of ad libitum creep mixture on dry mater intake, live weight gain and carcass characteristics. The lambs were blocked within sex according to their live weight and randomly allocated to one of two treatments, control (free suckling and free choice of alfalfa) or supplementary (ad libitum creep mixtures with free suckling and free choice of alfalfa) in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. The study was continued for 100 days and at the end of the experimental period, all lambs were slaughtered to assess carcass characteristics. Average daily milk intake of males was higher than females (P< 0.01). Daily live weight gain (g/d) was significantly (P< 0.01) higher in males than females (240 vs. 163 g/d) and in the supplementary group than the control (259 vs. 145 g/d). Fat tissue in both male and female lambs in supplementary group was significantly (P< 0.01) more than that in the control. It could be concluded that the creep mixture diet improved growth rate and carcass characteristics and the fat content of the lambs.

To study the fleece characteristics of native goats in Sistan and Balouchestan province, fiber sample was taken from 270 females between one to three years old from Khash, Saravan and Iranshahr cities. The differences between age groups for all fleece parameters except fleece weight were not significant. The fleece weight of two and three years old goats were 263.4 (± 7.7) and 315 (± 7.8) gr, respectively and were more than the fleece weight of yearling goats 323 (± 7.7) gr. The results of cashmere in Khash goats was highest (26.3 ± 1%), and the goats of Iran-shahr had the finest cashmere of (12.5± 0.3 micron).

To study of environmental effects (sex and age) on fleece traits of dromedary camel in Sistan and Balouchestan province, 48 male and female which rose in five cities (Zahedan, Zabol, Khash, Iran-shahr and Ghabahar) belonging to three age groups (<2, 2-6 and >7 years) were measured. Results indicated that there was not significantly different between sexes and age groups for all of fleece parameters, expect staple length of hump was effect by sex and also rump staple length and scoured yield were effect by age groups (P< 0.05). The means of shoulder, flank, rump, hump and overall four spots staple lengths were 4 (± 1.6), 2.6 (± 1.2), 2.6 (± 1.4), 4.4 (± 1.9) and 3.5 (± 0.13) cm. The means of inner coat, fiber diameter and coefficient of variation of fiber diameter, and scoured yield were 82 (± 1.07)%, 36.7 (± 1) micron, 38.8 (± 0.9)% and 74.3 (± 0.09)% res. The ranges varied of these characters were from 58.3 to 94%, 16.8 to 39.2 micron, 26.1 to 61% and 61.2 to 84.5%, respectively.
