In order to investigate the effect of fresh whole garlic bulb (FGBP) on production index, immune system and carcass characteristics of Arian broiler strain, 592 male one day old chicks were studied during 42 days in two independent experiments. The first experiment was conducted under normal temperature condition (NTC) with 4 treatments, 4 replicates and 21 birds per replicate and second experiment was conducted under cold temperature condition (CTC) with 4 treatments, 4 replicates and 16 birds per replicate basis balanced completely randomized design. The treatments were 1- basal diet without FGBP (control group), 2, 3 and 4 basal diet containing 0.5, 1 and 1.5 percent FGBP, respectively under both NTC and CTC. The highest level of body weight gain and production index were related to treatment of basal diet with 0.5 percent FGBP treatment under both NTC and CTC (P

This study was conducted to rank the broiler farms based on buildings, installations and equipment and its effect on production factors. To determine the contribution of each factor in ranking of farms, a multi-criteria decision analysis (SAW) was used. Data of 108 broilers were recorded in specific forms and the amount of investment per broiler was calculated for individual factors. To calculate the adjusted weights of parameters, 20 experts were consulted as was specified in forms. The results showed that ventilation (fans and air inlets), roof and wall insulation in a poultry houses have represented about 55 percent of technological factors. The breeding units holding rank 1 and 2 enjoyed high degree of mechanization. As the level of mechanization was improved, the density of chickens per unit area was also increased; These units used more tunnel ventilation and large fans, and their ceiling were insulated using fiberglass, polystyrene, corrugated plastic and thickness of walls were also 35 cm. Mostly external heaters have been installed. Feeding and drinker systems have exerted no important effect on production. Slaughter weight and survival percent were not affected by the degree of mechanization but feed intake and feed conversion ratio decreased and production index increased (p<0.01) in the breeding units holding rank 1 and 2. In general in poultry house, ventilation system and ceiling and wall insulation improved energy efficiency and increased the efficiency of the system.

This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of vitamin C (VC) and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) onimmunity response of broilers in cold stress condition using 500 male chicks in a completely randomizeddesign with 5 treatments and five replicates. Treatments were: positive control (PC, normal conditionsgrowth without antioxidants), negative control (NC, cold stress without antioxidants), cold stress + VC(300 mg/kg diet), cold stress + CoQ10 (40 mg/kg diet) and cold stress + VC + CoQ10 at above mentioneddoses. To induce cold stress, from day 15 until end, temperature fixed at 15oC. Vaccine titers, humeraland cellular immune response and relative immune organs weight were studied. Results showed that coldstress decreased relative spleen weight but there was no significant difference between treatments.Relative weight of bursa was increased in cold stress condition (P<0.01) and using antioxidant especiallyCoQ10 decreased it (P<0.05). Lymphocyte percent decreased in cold stress (P<0.05). Improved cellmediatedimmune response to subcutaneous injection of phytohemagglutinin and proliferation of Tlymphocyte in vitro were observed (P<0.05). In conclusion, use of antioxidants VC and CoQ10 in the coldstress condition improved immune system activity and decreased mortality
